September 2008 Highlights
  • Hurricane Ike made landfall in Galveston during the early morning hours of Saturday, September 13th. Ike was a strong Category 2 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale at landfall, causing major storm surge and wind damage along the upper Texas and southwest Louisiana coasts. Crystal Beach, along the Bolivar Peninsula, is just one of many locations that suffered major storm surge damage.
